Biography
D.N Rao did his PhD in Organic Chemistry and later he joined AIIMS under Post-doctoral fellowship program and then became a full-fledged faculty member. At present, he is a retired Professor and Head of Biochemistry, AIIMS, New Delhi. He was selected as an emeritus scientist by ICMR. He has 38 years of experience in Teaching & Research and administration too. His Research expands from Immunology & Biochemistry of Leprosy, Malaria, HIV, Trauma hemorrhagic shock, Plague, Chikungunia , and dengu and finally Pre-mature ovarian failure & recurrent miscarriage in women. He received many National awards & orations for his research work and he has published extensively in peer review high impact factor international & national journals. He has guided large number of students for PhD, MD, MSc and M. Biotech.
He is a reviewer of manuscripts related to Immunology & Biochemistry, both national and international journals and member & chairperson for various advisory committees of ICMR, CSIR, DST, DBT, and AIIMS & UGC. Also, he is a selection committee member for faculty position, reviewer of thesis from various medical colleges & universities in India & abroad, He is an editorial member in many international journals and reviewer of projects of national & International collaborations in the areas of infectious diseases.
Currently he is the President of Indian Immunology Society & Vice President of FIMSA and member of many scientific organizations.
